Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is officially over. Didn't get to smoke anything as the wife wanted the typical turkey cooked in the oven. It was ok as it lacks the flavor of a smoked turkey.

 Still patiently awaiting the arrival of my new baby. A Stumps smoker that is. I am guestimating that it will arrive sometime towards the middle to end of next week. Can't wait to make that first smoke. Not sure what it will be, but a whole chicken will probably be on the menu due to the fat content. It will help season the new metal to prevent rusting.

My New Smoker - Stumps Baby

I ordered my new smoker on 10/1 and patiently waiting for her to be built, painted and shipped. Hoping for a phone call this week and would like to have it before Thanksgiving. The waiting period is getting really difficult as I have read so many posts from people who own them. Looking forward to the first smoke.

First Blog

Well, this is my first blog. A little info about me. I am a backyard bbq'er / smoker. I love being outdoors cooking, hanging with friends, watching sports, especially the New Orleans Saints and also spending time with my grand-daughter. I just started planning for my first BBQ comp early nex year. Been testing alot of recipes that I have accumilated over the years to determine which ones are the best. My friends enjoy the weekends as they are my official testers and they get to eat alot of que. I do alot of cooking on the weekends, especially on one of my grills. I do occasionally cook burgers, chicken or steak on the grill during the week since these do not take up alot of time.

Most of my blogs will probably occur over the weekend since that is when I have alot of "free" time.
